POOL CARE — Very Simple Guide

Filtration & Circulation

1. Filter tank + bottom vacuum
   Use: filter and move the pool water every day

Water Test
2) PH test strips, CL test strips
3) Electronic water tester

Must-Have Chemicals
4) Soda Ash / pH Up — adjust water balance
5) 3-inch Chlorine Tabs — slow release chlorine
6) DE powder — for the filter

Must-Have Tools
7) Pool robot (best is lithium battery) — auto clean about 2 hours
8) Wall vacuum (best is lithium battery) — clean daily dirt

Optional Chemicals
9) Baking Soda — adjust total alkalinity
10) Blue dye — only makes water look nicer (no help to water quality)

Condition when I took over
The pool was not used for a long time.
The water was very bad.
The filter tank was dirty and not used for about one year.
The pressure gauge was broken for more than one year.

My Work Process

Step 1 — Deep clean the filter tank
Used bleach, TSP cleaner, white vinegar, filter cleaner, and pressure washer.
I also fixed the filter screen.

Step 2 — Buy needed tools and chemicals
I bought items 2–9 above (not the blue dye yet).

Step 3 — First water test = very bad
I cleaned the wall, then removed part of the water by the pump.
(Full water change is best, but “partial change + chemical adjust” can also fix it.)

Step 4 — After adding new water
Add baking soda in small parts.
Check with both tester and test strips.

Step 5 — Use Soda Ash / pH Up for fine adjust

Step 6 — Add DE powder slowly
Watch the pressure gauge until the filter system works normal again.
(DE powder needs refill every month. Must watch pressure gauge often.)

Step 7 — Start weekly care
Use lithium robot + wall vacuum + slow chlorine tabs.

Weekly Care (Short Version)

1. Test water — Adjust with Baking Soda / pH Up

2. Check pressure — Add DE powder if needed

3. Add chlorine — 3-inch chlorine tabs

4. Clean — Robot + Wall vacuum

About Blue Dye (Important Note)
Blue dye is cheap.
After adding it, the water “looks” very blue and beautiful.
99% of customers feel happy — because they do not understand water quality.
But blue dye only changes the look.
It gives zero real help to water quality.
